Angel investing isn’t always straightforward, but it’s deeply rewarding—and we’re here to support one another every step of the way.

Our Membership Process

1. ENQUIRE
Complete the online membership enquiry form using the link at the bottom of this page.
4. REFERENCE CHECKS
We will conduct reference checks to confirm you are a good fit for our membership.
2. MEET
Grab a coffee or have a call with an Angel HQ committee officer to learn more about the club.
5. COMMITTEE CHECK
Based on all information collected, our committee will vote to approve you as a new member in our club.
​3. APPLY
Complete the membership application form which will give us all information we need to process you.
​6. LEGALITIES
Compete investor eligibility forms in Catalist, sign the deed of nomination, and pay your membership fee.

​​Can anyone join?
​Members must meet the investor requirements of the Financial Management Conduct Act. Many of our members meet requirements under 'Eligible Investor' certification. You can find definitions for the different investor types you can qualify as here, and further guidance here.
​How much does the membership cost?
Our annual membership fee is $1,000 (GST incl.), with a pro-rata rate applied for your first year. In addition, the club charges investees a fee on funds raised. 

If you're 35 years old or younger, you may be eligible for our Concession Membership, which waives your membership fee for your first 3 years.

Eligibility for this concession includes investment limits based on the number of investments and their value at cost. If you'd like to know more, please get in touch with us - we'd be happy to have a chat!
How much do I have to invest?
​Our members invest a wide range of amounts from as little as $5k. We have a guideline expectation for members to invest at least $25k over a 2 year period but the most important thing is that you are considering a portfolio and planning for the longer term.
WHat is the time commitment?
We expect our members to make real effort in attending our regular club events.
  • We have an investment event every second month where opportunities will be presented to the club (in person in Wellington) and will be followed with follow-up Zoom calls.
  • Every other month we have member meetings and learning & development sessions (in person in Wellington and online) to foster connection and growth within our club.
  • We also host ad-hoc social events and workshops. These can be closed member events or public events in collaboration with other organisations in the wider startup ecosystem.
What business experience do I need?
Our club thrives on having members with a broad range of backgrounds to provide our portfolio with a smorgasbord of expertise. Investment experience is obviously useful, but not essential. Our club is designed to help you share and learn with others who have complementary expertise.
When should I expect returns?
All angel investments are risky and all have the chance of giving no return. Only a proportion of your wealth should be invested in these opportunities. When returns do come, they tend to be in the 4-7 year timescale or longer.
 What else do I get?
​We are a very collegial group so you are likely to build friendships and business relationships that go beyond the activity of the club. Angel HQ is a member of Angel Association New Zealand, so all our members are entitled to reduced fees for AANZ Events. We also provide access to other events and education opportunities, often involving experts from overseas.
