FUNDING PROCESS

The funding process can vary for each company but a typical raise has these key steps...

Check you meet our funding criteria and apply using the online form below.
2. ​Review
We will conduct a preliminary review to ensure your deal is suitable for the club.
3. Pitch
​If you're ready, you'll be invited to pitch to at the next club investment evening.​
4. ​Due Diligence ​
​A team of the most suitable investors from our club's membership will conduct due diligence on your deal.
5. Raise​
​We'll provide your finalised investment offer to our club members and collect their commitments. 
5. Close
We'll collect the funds from the interested investors, prepare legal documentation and send you the funds. 

OUR BASIC FUNDING CRITERIA IS

  1. 1. You are looking for between $50,000 and $1,000,000 investment
  2. 2. Your product or service can achieve rapid adoption in large markets
  3. 3. You have a compelling, well articulated strategy for capturing and defending a significant market share

YOU SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED

  • Barriers to entry: ​ideally some patents, proprietary technology or smarts
  • Team: a strong (not necessarily complete) team
  • Exit strategy: Some idea of who will eventually acquire your company or how else returns will be made
  • How we fit: a desire for advice, coaching and connections from Angel HQ
  • Valuation: you must fit within our risk/reward expectations

how much money can i raise?
Our rounds tend to be from $250k to $1m.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The club meets every second month and where there is interest, deals tend to take 8-12 months from presentation to completion.
WHAT DOES ANGEL HQ'S IDEAL COMPANY LOOK LIKE?
Have a look at our criteria but the basics are: a quality team taking a validated product to a huge market.
What are the key elements that make a successful raise with an Angel Club? 
Leadership. It takes work from the founders to really make the case for what they need and why. It also takes leadership from the investor side. Find a champion and have them help you set the pace and set the terms.
 Am I going to have lots of new investors on my cap table?
Our club invests through a nominee company so the underlying investors are not individually added to your capitalisation table.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Everything is success based. We charge a commission on funds raised from the club and the investee also pays for capped legal fees on the deal. Commissions are 6% on a first round and 3% on follow on (excl. GST).
